About the workplace

This is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

As a Manager, Application Technology you’ll lead the development and delivery of technology solutions across a variety of applications to improve both our staff and member experience. You’ll lead a team that is responsible for development, configuration, system analysis and ongoing support of technology applications. This includes working with vendors, our business partners and other internal Technology teams. You’ll monitor the ongoing performance of staff facing applications to ensure seamless delivery while continuously optimizing to improve the value they deliver to members and staff. Part of our Operations division, you’ll join a talented team that has both the passion for creating exceptional experiences and the technical aptitude to deliver.

A typical day would involve:

  • Collaborating with colleagues across the organization to evolve and prioritize backlogs, application roadmaps, assess new opportunities for application enhancement, and support the delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Coordinate team and vendor resources for our Member Management applications to meet business needs, enhance productivity and improve the user experience.
  • Monitor and advise stakeholders on overall system health, performance, and availability of production environments.
  • Oversee the investigation of incidents where necessary and engage vendor support as required.
  • Coordinate and authorize IT change requests so that changes are implemented in accordance with business requirements and configuration and release management procedures.
  • Build a deep understanding of our technologies, applications, member needs, strategic goals, and industry standards.
  • Monitoring application performance, analyzing data, while providing 24-hour support.
  • Managing application development activities to ensure our technologies remain compliant, are supported and optimized for efficiency.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

You have:

  • 5 plus years of experience managing enterprise content management systems (e.g., Captiva, Doxim, SharePoint Online) and finance applications (e.g., Sage 500, EDIS) in a dynamic business environment.
  • Over 5 years of leadership experience in technology management, particularly in the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on driving digital transformation and aligning technology solutions with business goals.
  • 5 plus years of experience in working with integrated applications ecosystem to improve member and staff experience with expertise in platforms like EDIS, Captiva, Doxim, Docusign, Sage 500, One Span, Sharepoint Online for document imaging.
  • The ability to work closely with product management internal teams, including enterprise architects and developers to deliver technical solutions.
  • The planning, project management, and decision-making skills needed to manage a complex portfolio of applications with a broad stakeholder group.
  • You know the banking industry and follow trends, technology, market, threats, and opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of business and financial concepts with proven experience in identifying and mitigating business risks early and effectively.
  • A growth mindset and desire to continually learn, adapt, evolve, and contribute to the product management practice at Vancity.
  • Advanced knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Azure DevOps technology.

  • A subject-matter expert and learner – you possess significant knowledge in your functional area and areas that can impact your work. You ensure to keep updated with the most relevant developments in your space.

The salary range for the role is $102,200 to $153,200 and a candidate’s offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($127,700).
