As a Management Consultant, you will provide business & systems services for the City's SAP Portfolio Enterprise Delivery team in the gathering of the As-Is documentation of the current landscape and the design of the To-Be state, as well as determining the requirements for process, configuration and feature/function changes, following the principles of standard best practices and minimal customization and identifying the most efficient way to implement the new solutions as part of the modernization/transformation program. The Management Consultant is also responsible for working closely with the Program Director, Project Managers, and other Stakeholders. This SAP position is required to provide next-generation SAP technologies necessary for delivering projects, provide the City alignment with best practices and alignment with the corporate requirements, working closely with business clients and stakeholders. This individual will focus on strong partnerships and apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to elicit the Business and Technical requirements.

Your expertise in translating complex information into clear, executive-level communications will be key. You’re not only an expert in your field, but also a trusted advisor to senior leadership, offering critical support that drives strategic decisions and helps shape the future of Toronto’s technology services.
Major Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements.
- Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Provides client-driven, value-added management consulting services to a portfolio of diverse consulting projects reflecting practice areas.
- Provides policy analysis, formulation, coordination and advice to the commissioners and senior managers regarding programs, services, and organization at both a strategic and operational level.
- Shapes and defines consulting projects in consultation with client and key stakeholders, determines focus, scope, objectives, methodology and activities.
- Directs the study process and applies methodologies, collects data, conducts analyses, draws conclusions, and develops alternative solutions.
- Brings analysis and conclusions forward to the client/stakeholders, chairs meetings and promotes systematic discussion.
- Supports management in assessing and devising solutions from a pragmatic and objective perspective.
- Works in support of project steering committees and leads interdepartmental teams and working groups.
- Assumes a temporary, short-term managerial/supervisory role in an organization unit during the transition phase of an organizational change project.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic organization design and effective management/governance systems and processes at the corporate level.
- Assists in the assessment and analysis of corporate organization effectiveness issues and conducts studies and prepares confidential reports with respect to program and service delivery changes; management policies, systems, processes, and practices; management restructuring; and organization change.
- Leads and/or supports cross-departmental teams in the development and application of corporate policies; identification of a range of options for operations, policies, information systems and management practices; assessment of the implications and viability of each option; and recommends changes to support management priorities and functions and strengthens internal controls.
- Researches, reviews and reports on existing and new management tools and methodologies and advises senior managers on emerging management techniques and other applied social science concepts and their applicability to the City.
- Promotes organization learning and takes steps to orchestrate change through corporate-wide and interdepartmental initiatives.
- Fosters and maintains cooperative working relationships within and external to the organization; establishes and maintains contact with professionals in related fields to ensure skills, knowledge and practice are current.
Key Qualifications:
Among other strengths, your application for the role of Management Consultant should describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Post secondary education in Business Administration or a related discipline, or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Extensive experience in eliciting and documenting both business and technical requirements, employing robust communication and problem-solving skills to ensure comprehensive understanding and alignment.
- Extensive experience in SAP or other Cloud solutions implementation projects, particularly in gathering As-Is documentation and designing To-Be state landscapes.
- Extensive experience with next-generation SAP technologies, or other next-generation cloud technologies, and their application to project delivery, ensuring alignment with city-wide objectives and technological advancements.
- Extensive experience in project management methodologies, with the ability to contribute to project planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery.
- Considerable experience in leading transformation and modernization initiatives within large organizations, focusing on identifying efficient implementation strategies for new solutions.
- Proven capability to build and maintain strong partnerships with business clients, vendors, and internal teams, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to project success.
- Proficient in determining process, configuration, and feature/function requirements aligned with standard best practices and minimal customization principles.
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively with Program Directors, Project Managers, and diverse stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals with corporate requirements and best practices.
- Commitment to applying industry best practices, standards, and methodologies in SAP solution, or other cloud solution, architecture and implementation, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective project outcomes.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate options, and make informed decisions that support project objectives and organizational goals.
