EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Worker
DEPARTMENT: Administration

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc. (NGRC Inc.) is an accredited organization that has an opening for a Maintenance Worker. The Maintenance Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team and will work under the direction of the Assistant Director. The Maintenance Worker will function within the legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission and Vision of NGRC Inc. and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities. Usual work hours will be day shift, Monday to Friday, although some extended hours may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Required physical demands of exertion and lifting occasionally, load/unload, move construction materials around the property
➢ Maintain the facilities including thorough and regular maintenance checks of equipment as needed, exterior work, landscaping, minor repairs, and report damage to property
➢ Maintain property by watering plants, mowing lawn, picking up and disposing of garbage, cleaning entrances, winter snowplowing, and/or shovelling pathways
➢ Operate equipment, as needed
➢ Assist with cleaning and polishing floors and painting in all buildings
➢ Perform maintenance and minor repairs (i.e., fixing door handles, minor leaks, etc.) in all buildings
➢ Report major damages
➢ Secure facilities by locking doors, closing windows, and setting up the alarm when required
➢ Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (i.e., sweeping, mopping, etc.)
➢ Compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations and all workplace health and safety policies, programs and practices
➢ Actively participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
➢ Maintain all required training up-to-date and provide documentation
➢ Perform other related duties that may be required or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
➢ Secondary School Diploma or G.E.D preferred
➢ Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or in a similar role
➢ Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
➢ Possesses or has a willingness to complete First Aid & CPR training
➢ Valid Class G Driver’s License
➢ Must be willing to submit a current Driver’s Abstract and a criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector screen (CPIC-VSC)
➢ Excellent time management and ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision
➢ Flexibility to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
➢ Ability to use good judgement when assessing difficult situations and to multitask and prioritize
➢ Good communication and interpersonal skills
