Maintenance Technician (Full Time) - Montreal East, QC

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Mechanical Technician who will be based at our Montreal East Air Separation Unit location.

The objective of the Mechanical Technician is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our production facilities and associated pipelines. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for identifying and completing planned and unplanned maintenance work on rotating and mechanical equipment. This person will work independently, make technical decisions, and escalate technical concerns in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all rotating equipment and associated mechanical systems including compressors, pumps, turbines, blowers, valves, etc.
  • Plan and perform major equipment installation, maintenance, overhauls and inspections - including corrective, preventative or predictive mechanical work.
  • Assist in turnaround planning/execution and cost estimation of mechanical work.
  • Execute daily assigned work.
  • Manage through emergency breakdowns.
  • Support in root cause and prevention of future downtime events.
  • Work collaboratively with operators and other technicians across the site to reduce downtime, safety and quality risks.
  • Support high impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
  • Ensure internal/external compliance is being maintained for all pressure relief devices.
  • This position requires a combination of office work and field work.
  • Accessibility during off-hours is required.
  • Employee will be required to work in different weather conditions and must be able to access elevated equipment via ladders, scaffolding, man-lifts and crane baskets.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree is considered an asset.
  • Previous leadership position or direct supervisory experience.
  • Available during off hours.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks and achieves results with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment clearances, tolerances, and vibration.
  • Proven experience using computers and standard software packages (MS Office, E-Mail etc.).
  • Experience using CMMS systems such as Infor EAM.
