Starting Wage: $25 per hour. This is the starting base range for this role and may vary based on internal equity, and a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Building Operations, the Maintenance Technician / Cleaner is a key member of Tourism Whistler’s Building Operations team. This position, along with the other Building Operations team members, is responsible for general cleaning, beautification, security, and minor repairs of the Whistler Conference Centre, Tourism Whistler administrative offices, Whistler Golf Club & Driving Range.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Tourism Whistler ambassador, living our purpose and vision with passion & energy, achievement and respect
- Perform cleaning, beautification and security duties in a safe manner. This includes the monitoring and cleaning of washrooms, Conference Centre common areas, Tourism Whistler administrative offices, and Whistler Conference Centre exterior property.
- Act as an ambassador, alongside the Conference Services and Sodexo Live! teams, to ensure the delivery of top-notch client experience at the Whistler Conference Centre
- Perform basic security work such as arming the building after hours, responding to security alarms and help contracted event security staff
- Snow removal (seasonally)
- Perform minor general repairs and building maintenance.
- Strong team orientation, with a positive customer service approach, professional appearance and “can do” attitude
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- One year experience in cleaning / maintenance, preferably in a hotel or commercial office environment
- Knowledge of the safe and efficient operations of cleaning equipment like carpet shampoo, floor strippers, and some hand repair tools
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures, such as: fall protection, lockouts, confined space entry, WHMIS and proper wearing of personal protective equipment, is an asset
- Ability to employ service procedures and techniques indicative of first class work
- Available for various shifts, including availability to occasionally work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays
- Physically capable of performing all requirements, including visual concentration
