Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operational activities of federal military buildings in Canada.
Ensure that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Oversee a team of maintenance personnel, including skilled tradespeople such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, and plumbers. Coordinate with external contractors to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Oversight: Supervise and coordinate the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
Team Management: Lead and train a team of building operators and maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards and work protocols.
Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of building systems.
Emergency Response: Respond to maintenance emergencies and ensure timely resolution of issues to maintain operational continuity.
Contractor Coordination: Manage relationships with external contractors, ensuring that work is completed to specifications and within budget.
Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with federal regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Provide regular reports to management.
Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Stakeholder Communication: Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including military personnel and government officials.
Accountable for ensuring that Serco’s interests are represented in joint partnerships or ventures.

Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to the operations including occupational health and safety, environmental, and quality.
Responsible for the safety of all personnel, equipment, and facilities under the scope of this position, in accordance with Provincial, Federal, Serco and customer safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education/Certifications
Diploma or Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Building Operator Certification (BOC) are highly desirable.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret Government of Canada security clearance (required).
Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Experience
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of demonstrated work experience in building maintenance, preferably in a government or military setting.
Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within building maintenance.
Extensive technical skills and experience with maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Proficient in the use of maintenance management software and MS Office suite.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex maintenance issues.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Commitment to providing excellent customer service to building occupants.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Mental: Activities are moderate intensity at more than 4hrs/day or high intensity at 2-4hrs/day.
Physical: Activities are low intensity, less than 2hrs/day. Must have ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Working Conditions:
Some exposure to disagreeable elements including to work in various environments, outdoor settings and at heights.
