Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Planner is primarily responsible for reviewing construction documents and technical specifications, in the preparation of detailed work plans that consider all aspects including cost estimating, scheduling, and maximizing resource utilization, to enable tradespersons to perform quality work in a safe, effective and efficient manner at the LNGC Site in Kitimat, BC.

Responsibilities

  • Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture;
  • Ability to create detailed project plans and schedules;
  • Ensures the Construction Work Packages are issued on time and in the proper sequence;
  • Ensures the work processes are set up and all project information is understood and accessible to all personnel required;
  • Ability to assign responsibility for integration planning to resolve anticipated conflicts proactively;
  • Ability to assign responsibility for material, construction equipment, and specialty tool coordination to dedicated personnel;
  • Efficiently tracks the progress of each work plan and provides targets to crews to drive performance;
  • Plans for unforeseen circumstances in order to meet deadlines;
  • Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders to provide clarity surrounding equipment/facility downtime;
  • Understands typical maintenance/construction project scheduling;
  • Effectively maintains accurate manpower loading for internal resources;
  • Demonstrates strategies used to manage the schedule impacts caused by change;
  • Participate in weekly site inspections (Progress, HSE);
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education; Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in related field;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the maintenance/construction industry in a supervisory role an asset;
  • Multi-discipline construction field experience an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), SAP and Primavera;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload;

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work on a maintenance/construction site with moderate noise, extreme temperatures, inclement weather and other safety sensitive conditions associated with industrial site/plant work.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
