Maintenance Mechanic (Permanent Full-Time)

The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repairs to all site mechanical equipment related to the City of Estevan operations. He or she must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge of and dedication to safety, maintenance and repair methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Duties:

• Understand the mechanical systems, mechanical procedures and maintenance programs.
• Prepare specifications and assist procurement and undertake proper storage of adequate inventories of required equipment and parts.
• Maintain and update all required log books.
• Understand the company policies and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ensure personal protective equipment is used as required.
• Follow established procedures in shutting down and disassembling equipment, replacing damaged or worn parts, and reassembling equipment to perform to required specifications.
• Repair and maintain all equipment in accordance with the preventative maintenance program in consultation with service manuals.
• Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel powered units.
• Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
• Install new and added-on equipment.
• Accurate completion of maintenance records, work orders and time cards.
• Repair cooling and lubrication systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in their workplace.
• Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to, and complied with at all times.
• Perform maintenance and repairs in the field.
• Understand and apply Safe Work practices.
• Work as part of a team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• Relevant technical certification such as Heavy Duty Technician Certificate
• Possess a valid driver’s license

Experience and Additional Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry and experience performing repairs on trucks, trailers or heavy equipment such as John Deere.
• 2 years of small engine repair and troubleshooting experience.
• Fireman’s Certificate is an asset.

SALARY:

Based on a salary of $ per hour, as per 2024 CUPE rates.
