About the job Mainframe Storage Architect - Remote
Software International (SI) supplies technical talent to a variety of Fortune 100/500/1000 and other companies in Canada/US. We are currently hiring for a Mainframe Storage Consultant for our global IT infrastructure consulting client.
A mainframe storage architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the storage infrastructure of a mainframe system. A mainframe storage architect works closely with the mainframe system administrator, the mainframe application developers, and the business users to ensure that the storage solutions meet the performance, availability, security, and scalability requirements of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement storage solutions for mainframe systems, including disk, tape, and virtual storage devices
Monitor and optimize the performance, capacity, and utilization of the storage infrastructure
Ensure the backup, recovery, and disaster recovery of the mainframe data
Develop and enforce storage policies, standards, and procedures
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for storage-related issues
Research and evaluate new storage technologies and products
Document and maintain the storage architecture and configuration
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in mainframe storage administration and architecture
Expert knowledge of mainframe storage hardware and software, such as IBM DS8000, TS7700, DFSMS, SMS, HSM, RMM, and FDR, VTS, DASD
Strong skills in mainframe storage performance tuning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
Proficient in mainframe storage scripting and automation tools, such as REXX, CLIST, JCL, and TSO
Familiarity with mainframe operating systems, such as z/OS, z/VM, and z/VSE
Good communication and collaboration skills
Certification in mainframe storage or related fields is a plus
