Qualifications/Requirements:
Under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, S.O. 2014, c. 11, Sched. 1 Ontario Regulation 137/15 for staff screening and police record checks; Employees [DECEs, EAs, CYWs] working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent vulnerable sector check. In addition, employees are required to complete an annual offence declaration (annually recorded through the WRDSB staff portal).
Educators working in Before and After School Programs are required to complete a request for VSC through your local police service and submit your original electronic copy for review. Employees are required to have a valid first aid and CPR certificate and/or be registered to update their training within the year.
