A condition of employment as an EA/CYW with the Waterloo Region District School Board requires that one must pass a Physical Demands test. All job offers will be conditional on the candidate passing all components of this test. This applies to any EA/CYW that does not already have Permanent/LTO level D hours.
Under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, S.O. 2014, c. 11, Sched. 1 Ontario Regulation 137/15 for staff screening and police record checks; Employees [DECEs, EAs, CYWs] working in licensed child care programs are required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a Police Service on or before every fifth anniversary after the date of the most recent vulnerable sector check. In addition, employees are required to complete an annual offence declaration (annually recorded through the WRDSB staff portal).
Educators working in Before and After School Programs are required to complete a request for VSC through your local police service [available online] and submit your original electronic copy to care-staff@wrdsb.ca for review. Employees are required to have a valid first aid and CPR certificate and/or be registered to update their training within the year.
