Job Description

Candidates are invited to apply for the position detailed below at Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility located in Red Deer, Alberta. This facility is home to 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds.

Reporting to: Director of Care

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Care, the LPN will:

1. Ensure resident care is provided within established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders, and administrative policies.
2. Use the Nursing Process of Assessment, Plan, Implement, and Evaluate a resident's health and develop individualized resident care plans.
3. Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of the Health Care Aide.
4. Assist in orientating, mentoring, and competency development of staff.
5. Demonstrate leadership skills.
6. Graduate of Licensed Practical Nurse Program.
7. Registered in good standing with CLPNA.
8. Caring, compassionate, dependable, ethical, and mature.
9. Strong communication skills.
10. Ability to manage stressful situations.
11. Critical thinking skills.
12. Good time management skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
13. Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
14. Current CPR and First Aid certification.
15. Experience with MDS-RAI assessments.
