Position Overview:The Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store (s). The APS will drive execution of the Company’s internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the Company. The APS must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to and support key AP and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives
Key Responsibilities:
Building RelationshipsCommunicate with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM
(Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations and
physical security within the store
Maintain an open channel of communication with store management and all
associates. Partner with store management to drive AP issues
Drive a ‘Shrink Elimination’ culture within the store environment
Participate in the In Focus program
ComplianceDetain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures
Drive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies. Validate environmental compliance to company standards.
Check physical security of The Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activity
Write reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence and interact with law enforcement
Represent the Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court-related procedures
Build Skills and KnowledgeMeet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirements
Create associate awareness for shrink issues related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies and physical security
Effectively support the AP Team Plan
Effectively utilize CCTV and exception reports and audit the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems
Test building alarm system
Conduct surveillance when required
Set challenging objectives and communicate clear expectations
Demonstrate a clear bias for action and a sense of urgency on priorities

Physical Requirements:May involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving merchandise and tools, climbing a ladder.
Extended periods of standing and walking through out the store locations
May involve quickly responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information.
Moving around the store and being able to communicate with and assist associates & customers.
Operating a computer and other technology.
Hybrid Work:Multisite or location dependent
Working Conditions:Working within a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekends.
Warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy.
Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
Minimum Education:High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Years of Work Experience:1+ year(s) experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator (or equivalent) preferred
Minimum Leadership Experience:NA
Certifications:Where applicable, Asset Protection associates are required to maintain a valid and up to date security guard license and/or private investigator license.
Other Requirements/Assets:Must have access to a vehicle
May be required to travel to various stores in the (market area)
