Role Overview: Reporting to the Long Range Planning Coordinator, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will play a critical role in the transition of the mining projects from exploration to engineering and economical evaluations as you will provide competent and professional long-term mine planning. You will need to produce Life of Mine planning (LOM) by considering the mine designs, production plans, forecasting, and other mining engineering parameters and constraints. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and implement the life of mine (LOM), budget, and necessary economic analysis for mine operation and underground infrastructures, for both Underground and Open pits.
- Perform semi-annual mining reserves and resource estimation (MRMR): Mine stope optimizer (MSO) set up, Datamine block model encoding, variance and sensitivity analysis.
- Actively participate in the expansion projects’ studies and permitting.
- Develop, prepare, and design the Strategic LT Mining Plan and assess opportunities throughout the different planning exercises, such as ELOM & FPM, and various economic analysis and tradeoffs.
- Receive and analyze new mine design guidelines (block model, economical parameters).
- Develop tools, procedures, and systems to ensure robust long-range planning.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining engineering or a Mining technology diploma.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Underground and Open Pit mining operations, including a minimum of 2+ years experience in production and mine planning.
- Excellent knowledge of CAD software, with working knowledge of Deswik being an asset.
- Experience in reserves and resource estimation would be an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday (5 days of work, followed by 2 days off).
- Remote working and your presence in AEM offices at Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec will be required occasionally.
- You will be occasionally required to visit the mine site to establish synergies within the team and present some deliverables.
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
