Job description

Reporting directly to the Manager, Logistic, the Logistics Specialist will be responsible for coordinating shipments by air, ocean, truck, including import and export customs formalities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will plan and coordinate the day-to-day shipping that includes:

  1. Plans and coordinates cost-effective transportation arrangements for radioactive Cobalt-60 shipments and non-radioactive shipments to global customers, including return shipments (booking, pre-planning, and documentation as required).
  2. Handling and booking by truck, air, ocean, export, and import shipments.
  3. Contacting third-party freight forwarders or trucking carriers for shipment pre-planning arrangements and issuing shipping instructions.
  4. Complete accurate, timely import and export commercial documentation and various in-transit airport/port forms.
  5. Conformity verification of all documentation at the time of shipment preparation.
  6. Consulting with internal and external stakeholders to review information required for specific products being shipped to and from abroad.
  7. Daily monitoring and tracking of shipments to final destination.
  8. Collecting customs documentation from vendors and filing customs entry declarations and ISF filing in a timely manner with the appropriate customs broker.
  9. Communicating with foreign customs agencies to obtain information about import regulations and procedures in order to comply with Canadian customs laws.
  10. Read, monitor, and respond promptly to all incoming communications (clients and other business partners - Domestic and Overseas) in order to properly manage and control daily operational issues.
  11. Building and maintaining good relations with customers and carriers.
  12. Solving in a diligent and business-efficient manner internal and customer complaints and implementing measures to prevent their frequency and recurrence.
  13. Improving on an ongoing basis internal systems and procedures in order to favor customer service and departmental efficiencies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience of related experience in Logistics and Transportation.
  • Post-secondary education in the logistics field is an asset.
  • Preferably a background in Dangerous Goods handling and transport.
  • Familiarity with B3 customs form, tariff classification, USA and Canadian Customs import and export regulations.
