About us

Tata Steel Minerals Canada Limited (TSMC) with its headquarters at 1000 Sherbrooke West, Montreal (Quebec), operates iron ore mines in the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec. The opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Logistics (Inbound) Coordinator to join our team based out of the corporate office located in downtown Montreal, QC.

Reporting to the Chief of Procurement, the incumbent will be responsible for expediting deliveries from vendor; that is, to coordinate the movement of materials and parts to be delivered to our mine site working in tight collaboration with Procurement, In-bound Logistics and site operations to meet delivery schedules. The overall responsibilities for this role include procuring of Parts, Consumables & Services as per business units.

Please note this is a contract position, for a minimum of 6 months, with the possibility of permanent employment thereafter.

This role is based in our Montreal office, with the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week, however there will be the occasional need to travel to our mine site in Labrador.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions to ensure clarity and completeness in description of materials and equipment, quantity and quality requirements, proper authorization of funding, delivery requirements, mode of transportation, and proper support documentation;
  • Take the lead on providing real-time status of delivery status (ETA) on weekly Critical Spare Parts meeting;
  • Keep track of Material/parts shipments & movement;
  • Communicate with third parties in a timely manner to ensure supplies and equipment are correct, available, and delivered on time;
  • Update management as necessary and alert them of potential problems;
  • Estimate and keep tabs on costs;
  • Identify and address issues related to the procurement process, escalating unresolved issues to the Chief of Procurement, as needed.

Your Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in Logistics;
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills are critical;
  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Office;
  • Working knowledge of SAP and of materials management software, a definite asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle conflicting priorities and deadlines;
  • Mobility & flexibility as occasional traveling to our mine site in Labrador will be required;
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills in both French & English are an asset.
