Purpose
This position is responsible for transportation planning, customer order management, customer service liaison with both internal and external clients and fleet dispatch while fostering cooperation and teamwork to ensure maximum profitability while providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Dispatch drivers in accordance with customer needs.
- Create cost effective trucking routes that meet customer demands.
- Adjust to last minute changes in scheduling and communicate effectively with drivers and customers.
- Collaborate with management to modify daily routes to accommodate customer needs.
- Effectively communicate with customers concerning operational and logistical issues, changing processes and work updates.
- Accept load tenders, book delivery appointments and schedule pick up date and time.
- Update customer web portals with up-to-date load information.
- Call customers to advise shipment delays and/or information necessary to process orders, border crossings, and receipt of custom documents for clearance.
- Monitor and update shipment statuses on the company’s internal applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Previous experience working as a logistics coordinator, dispatcher or transportation customer service role is a definite asset.
- Work successfully with both the management and the warehouse teams.
- Creativity & vision with strong understanding of how to balance priorities.
- Excellent communication, organizational & administration skills.
- The ability to solve problems in a fast moving environment.
- Identify and solve problems through your own initiative and by communicating with others.
- Positive attitude with good people skills.
- Proficient with TMS, MS Office, including MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel.
- Ability to work effectively without close supervision, collaboratively, independently & under tight timelines.
