About The Role

The Logistics Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting day-to-day operations across various departments. The role is responsible for assisting customer service inquiries, managing permitting processes, tracking overdue accounts, providing scale coverage, and offering general cross-departmental support to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Coordinate and apply for overweight, over-dimensional, and low bedding permits through the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, ensuring all required documentation (vehicle specs, load dimensions, etc.) is complete and accurate.
  • Plan optimal routes for oversized loads, accounting for road restrictions, weight and height limits, and coordinating escort vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all permit applications, approvals, and correspondence.
  • Provides detailed information to customers, including invoices and Proof of Delivery.
  • Confirm any external haul billing needed and enter for payment processes.
  • Works closely with the commercial sales team to provide information on customer volumes and products.
  • Manage tax exemption and credit application forms and follow up on acceptance.
  • Provides customer focus for the After Sales Support team.
  • Support Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Collections by identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner, including:
    • Investigating credits and rebills.
    • Coordinating with ABS on credit and rebill instructions.
    • Providing proof of delivery documentation as needed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
What We’re Looking For

Education: Post-secondary Certificate or Diploma

Field of Study Preferred: Business Administration

Required Work Experience: at least 3 years of customer service or account administration experience

Required Technical Skills: MS Office, SAP, Salesforce

Travel Requirements: 10%

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong telephone skills.
  • Good understanding of heavy equipment and building material industry is an asset.
  • Ability to foster and grow a strong safety culture.
  • Highly motivated, able to quickly build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • Good time management skills with proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive customer service attitude.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the job site (480 Hutley Road, Armstrong, BC) Mondays to Fridays.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
