Logistics and Transfer Station Manager

Job Summary

The Logistics and Transfer Station Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of multiple transfer stations. This role also oversees the scheduling of sub-contracted hauling for Transfer Stations across all of Ontario.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

1. Monitors transfer stations' work processes, procedures and expenses, and establishes programs which drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals.
2. Ensures smooth operation of multiple transfer stations, including: gatehouse, sorting, loading.
3. Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
4. Minimizes handling and operational costs and off-site impact.
5. Interfaces frequently with Director of Operations for further opportunities.
6. Coordinates with sales for opportunities.
7. Coordinates with MRF COE and Director of Operations to adjust site operations as commodity prices fluctuate.
8. Regularly proposes means of improvement.
9. Communicates and interfaces effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors.
10. Develops and interprets organizational goals, policies and procedures, and reviews and updates project plans as appropriate.
11. Maintains a clean, safe work environment in compliance with OSHA/Corporate Standards.
12. Ensures adequate hauling service is scheduled for all Transfer Stations in Ontario.
13. Communicates with, and schedules sub-contracted hauling for all Transfer Stations in Ontario.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory employees. This includes direct supervision of 8 full-time employees.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience.

Experience: Seven years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
