Lafarge – Calgary (Lynnwood Ridge / Ogden / Foothills Industrial / Great Plains), Alberta

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible primarily for the day-to-day interface with customers for their cement order placement. It requires coordination with various sales teams, operations personnel, and contract truck partners to ensure that customer requests are delivered in line with industry expectations.

Clear communication with contract truck partners to ensure efficient and timely delivery of Lafarge’s materials is paramount. The Coordinator also supports all administrative activities around the billing and invoicing of materials once delivered.

This is a full-time customer-facing role that requires a service-oriented mindset with a highly professional approach. This position is critical to the execution of our business. Successful candidates are keen problem solvers who can operate in a fast-paced environment, possessing the ability to troubleshoot a variety of issues while searching for ways to be most efficient.

The role is considered an opportunity to learn the full spectrum of the Lafarge Western Canada business and sales areas, including the manufacturing origins of cement, concrete, and aggregates, the distribution of these materials through plants & terminals, and the logistics channels to service a wide customer base.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Adhere to all Lafarge safety policies and procedures.
  2. Responsible for the order taking & order fulfillment process for delivery or customer pickup (including assignment of carriers, as applicable).
  3. Fulfill and exceed customer expectations in compliance with policies, practices, and procedures.
  4. Advocate for customers' interests, overcoming obstacles and solving problems that may negatively impact Lafarge’s customer service offering.
  5. Timely response to customer complaints with appropriate follow-up, including escalation as required.
  6. Maintain a high level of quality on all phone and digital conversations, knowledgeable of services, products, and methods of delivery by Lafarge Cement.
  7. Possess a flexible schedule, working different shifts and taking calls after hours when required.
  8. Review terminal inventory and select supply.
  9. Input manual bills of Lading.
  10. Create and maintain monthly reports as required.
  11. Conduct proactive outbound calls to customers.
  12. Participate in value selling per instructions and as appropriate.
  13. Provide support to Sales and the Credit team with customer accounts, understanding which accounts require closer monitoring.
  14. Keep backup information and knowledge for after-sales support activities.
  15. Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders from Sales, Logistics, and Operations teams as well as external truck partners.
  16. Customer account reconciliation/cleanup effort when necessary.
  17. Oversee application of credit card payments and manage historical files of credit card transactions.
  18. Ensure proper documentation is kept for transactions that will stand up to the scrutiny of auditory requirements.

Qualification Profile

Education and Work Experience:

  1. Associate degree/college diploma or greater in an applicable field, including Business, Finance or Engineering is an asset.
  2. Understanding of the building materials industry, including product knowledge.
  3. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite of products.
