Job description

The Department of Medicine and the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Ottawa and the Ottawa Hospital is looking for a Geriatrician or General Internist to fill a one-year Locum.

The successful candidate will perform clinical services, teach, and supervise medical students and residents. Clinical activities include an acute care inpatient Geriatric Medicine Unit and consultation teams at the General and Civic campuses.

The ideal candidate will be a specialist in Geriatric Medicine or General Internist. The successful candidate must be eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in Ontario; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and have certification in General Internal Medicine or Geriatric Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the University of Ottawa. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital are bilingual institutions, and therefore, in the case of potentially successful candidates of equal ability, a bilingual (French/English) candidate would be preferred.

The income for this position is derived from clinical billings.

This is a one-year full-time locum appointment with the opportunity to teach residents and medical students through the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa.
