Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. As a Contract at Canva you can work remotely in the country listed on this job ad, meaning you have ultimate flexibility. Please note this is a 6 month contract with part-time hours, approx. 20-30 hours per week.

What you’d be doing in this role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced native/fluent French localisation reviewer to review translated templates, including posters, invitations, social media graphics, presentations, print materials, and more, created using Canva’s design tool. The goal will be to localise content from English to French (fr-FR & fr-CA) by adjusting language and updating design to be more in line with the French and French Canadian market. You will review templates by providing language feedback, and implementing language and design fixes on the following areas:

  • Spell check and grammar
  • Language quality and flow (grammar, punctuation, spelling errors/typos, cohesiveness, etc.)
  • Adherence to guidelines and brand tone of voice
  • Design issues (improper line breaks in text, inappropriate/incorrect/controversial imagery, font replacement, etc.)
  • Cultural fit
  • Redesigning as necessary

You're probably a match if

  • You are fluent in French (fr-FR & fr-CA), with knowledge of common slang and unique phrases used in France and Canada. Please do not apply if you are not fluent in these two languages.
  • You have experience in content localisation, particularly in design and copy.
  • You have the ability to learn internal design and localisation tools quickly, and get things done in a timely manner.
  • You have a keen understanding of the French (France & Canada) market, including its history, trends, news, and social and political culture.
  • You have the ability to read and follow strict guidelines, and communicate coherently and properly.
  • You have a strong foundation and stylistic approach to design, with a keen understanding of visual, cultural, and popular trends, especially in France and Canada.
  • You understand French culture, trends, news, controversies, history, and conflict, and can stay up-to-date with the local scene to create templates with appropriate and non-discriminatory, non-sensitive content.
  • You understand French cultural sensitivities to ensure that content is appropriate for the market, both from a social and legal perspective.

Other stuff to know

We make hiring decisions to engage contractors based on your experience, skills and passion. When you signify interest in the Project, please tell us the pronouns you use and any reasonable adjustments you may need during the contractor-accreditation interview process.

Please note that contractor-accreditation meetings are conducted virtually.

We celebrate all types of skills and backgrounds at Canva so even if you don’t feel like your skills quite match what’s listed above - we still want to hear from you!
