Help Build a Living Legacy. Alpha Better Landscaping is currently building in the following communities: Legacy, Wolf Willow, Seton, Cornerstone, Livingston, Carrington, Evanston, Rockland Park, Watermark, Haskayne (Bearspaw), Heartland (Cochrane) South shores, Waterford, Chelsea (Chestermere).
Alpha Better Landscaping is a family-run landscaping company that has been in operation since 1979. We have 2 immediate openings for a Landscape Field Supervisor(s) / Foreperson in several of our specialty areas Including Construction and Heavy Equipment.
This is a 3 Year Contract position which includes Construction Landscaping and Winter Snow removal responsibilities.
In collaboration with the Superintendent, the Field Supervisor plans and schedules key construction activities for each week and establishes production priorities in keeping with project schedules and budget.
Responsibilities:
- Large-scale landscape installation, including residential communities, city parks, green space, and large commercial developments.
- Coordinate, manage, and motivate the day-to-day activities of crew members and sub-contractors.
- Participate in construction activities and support your team in accomplishing daily production targets.
- Implement operating methods and procedures designed to improve productivity and product quality with guidance from the Superintendent.
- Review all project specifications, the scope of work, and site conditions with the Superintendent and help establish project schedules and priorities.
- Identify hazards and other potential obstacles during project construction and recommend potential solutions.
- Responsible for the overall health & safety of crew members and job site, including training, incident reporting, and enforcement.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluation, and communicate job expectations to direct reports.
- Identify needs for supplies, materials, & equipment and report to the Superintendent at the beginning of each week.
- Identify requirements for tools & equipment and ensure their availability prior to project construction.
- Accountable for assigned trucks, trailers, bobcats, and other tools/equipment to ensure their safe operation and maintenance.
- Conduct daily reviews of project production status with the Superintendent and resolve on-site operational, human resource, and technical problems to minimize the impact on project schedule and budget.
- Develop and maintain client relationships for each project and ensure that any issues that can affect the contract are reported to the Superintendent.
- Attend project meetings as a representative of the company.
- Provide daily production & activity reports, communication logs, and other relevant information and documents to the Superintendent.
- Prepare and approve all daily timesheets for crew members and ensure time is coded to the proper job costing.
- Practice, encourage, and enforce company corporate values.
- This is a working supervisor position, must be able and willing to get your hands dirty with the rest of your team.

- Ability to manage a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Physical Capabilities: Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, physically demanding requiring walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time, working long hours in all types of weather conditions.
- Proper PPE is required.
- Health & safety oriented.
Technical Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of Field Supervisory experience or large-scale landscape construction experience.
- Must have equivalent to Canadian landscape horticulture technologist certification.
- Strong Verbal and Written English skills a MUST.
- A class 5 driver's license or international drivers license is required. The driver's abstract must be provided and approved by ABL Insurance.
- Experience operating landscaping and construction equipment such as skid steers, tractors, backhoes, etc.
- Project management skills.
Education:
- Completion of Canadian Certified Horticultural Technician (CHT) or Canadian equivalent.
- Other related construction or safety training program completion is considered an asset.

- We offer competitive wages as well as overtime after 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week (Landscaping season). (Starting at $25.00 to $38.00) - winter season is guaranteed 33 hours per week salary.

- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must be willing to work 8 - 12 hour days Monday to Saturday.
- Must have steel-toed boots (8" at Ankle).
- MUST possess a CLEAN driver abstract, and be able to drive a truck with a trailer.
