Hatch is seeking a Linear Conveyance Engineering Trainee new graduate. Reporting to the Infrastructure, Water group, you will support offices globally working from our Markham office location.
We are looking for an adaptable, self-motivated new graduate who is excellent at working both individually and in a team. You will need to build and maintain strong relationships with both your colleagues and clients through excellent verbal and written communication. We will expect you to draw on your college and employment experiences to manage your time effectively.

As the successful candidate, you will:
- Engineering & Project Support: Assist in the design and analysis of civil engineering linear conveyance projects involving watermains, sewers, and water conveyance tunnels. Support engineering services and project delivery involving initial studies, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction phases.
- Technical Tasks: Support hydraulic and pipeline design for watermains and sewers. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Perform site inspections and assessments. Prepare technical reports and supporting documentation.
- Applying Engineering & CAD Software: Utilize civil engineering software for modeling and analysis. Assist in the preparation of technical drawings and documentation using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Field Work & Data Collection: Participate in occasional site visits to monitor project progress, audit Contract requirements, and collect photographic information on work progress.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success. Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and professional development activities. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with industry standards and technologies.
- Safety & Compliance: Comply with safety regulations and standards. Promote a culture of safety within the office and on project sites. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure safety measures are integrated into project plans. Audit construction activities and identify potential safety hazards.
- Quality Assurance & Control: Help ensure that designs meet quality standards and client requirements. Participate in quality control reviews and revisions.
You bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree or graduating in 2025 in Civil Engineering from an accredited University.
- Strong CAD skills, and experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation is required.
- Positive team attitude and approach, results-oriented and ability to work independently.
- Passion for learning, challenges, and your field of study.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
