Job description

Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year

Work Setting: Restaurant

Tasks:

  1. Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
  2. Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  3. Inspect kitchens and food service areas
  4. Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
  5. Order supplies and equipment
  6. Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
  7. Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
  8. Clean kitchen and work areas
  9. Recruit and hire staff

Support for Persons with Disabilities:

  1. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities

Support for Newcomers and Refugees:

  1. Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.)

Support for Youths:

  1. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth

Support for Veterans:

  1. Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans
  2. Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers

Support for Mature Workers:

  1. Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination

Support for Visible Minorities:

  1. Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees
