The Life Cycle Materiel Manager interfaces directly with customers regarding technical issues related to components and systems. They ensure all materiel support activities adhere to approved policies, procedures, and customer requirements. This position functions at a non-leadership management level and involves the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate efforts across departments to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned materiel.
- Manage materiel support activities throughout all stages of the life cycle.
- Support ongoing maintenance needs for mechanical and avionics systems, including spares, test equipment, technical publications, and airworthiness.
- Apply Life Cycle Management principles to equipment/systems support.
- Serve as a technical expert for the equipment/systems.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of materiel acquisition and support functions.
- Collaborate with other departments such as supply and procurement.
- Stay informed about support facilities' capabilities for modification, repair, and overhaul.
- Keep up to date with advancements in relevant technologies.
- Manage the disposal of controlled goods or technology.
- Take corrective actions to meet project performance targets.
- Provide guidance to management on pertinent issues.
- Offer Life Cycle Management support to both internal and external customers.
- Respond to and oversee engineering support requests from customers.
- Participate in departmental administrative activities, contributing to the development of new practices and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Human Resources, safety, and security policies.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Education requirements include a secondary school diploma, completion of an accredited technologist program in electronics or aircraft systems, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
Experience prerequisites involve at least 2 years of recent experience (within the last 10 years) working on advanced aircraft mechanical and electronic systems, including but not limited to flight guidance, radar, secure networks, electronic communications, simulators, environmental control systems, and hydraulic systems. Equipment Life Cycle Management (LCM), ADMS, DRMIS, and Canadian Forces Supply System.
