JOB PURPOSE :

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients and physicians and executing on the organization’s strategic objectives as it relates to clinic operations and patient care.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Initiating forms, creating billings, and collecting payment for uninsured services
2. Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing patients for physician
3. Setting up and assisting with minor surgical procedures, pelvic examinations / IUD’s
4. Performing diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician including but not limited to urinalysis, simple blood glucose testing, pregnancy testing
5. Performing a variety of care interventions and medical procedures as permitted by the physician, within the designated scope of practice
6. Aware of organization’s core purpose and core values and performing to these Core Values on an ongoing basis
7. Accurately charting any medical procedures or interventions performed in the patient chart
8. Following standards of cleanliness and safety
9. Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments
10. Scanning patient documents as required
11. Opening mail, receiving faxes and distributing appropriately
12. Completing daily, weekly and monthly chore lists
13. Participating in the training and orientation of new medical staff and students
14. Understanding physician profiles and executing on requests in order to properly support physicians
15. Actively participating in company initiatives

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

1. A two (2) year diploma from an accredited institution
2. Current registration and in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta
3. Minimum of one year customer service experience
4. Experience with Med Access software is preferred
5. Excellent communication, listening and problem-solving skills
6. Excellent clinical, customer service and organizational skills
7. Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with the Health Information Act guidelines
8. CPR and immunization certification
