Your Opportunity:
The Emergency Department at the South Health Campus is a large urban department comprised of an interdisciplinary team providing care to patients of varying acuity. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work as an essential member of the South Health Campus Emergency Department team. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful applicant must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong prioritization and assessment skills, and flexibility in a busy work environment. You will be accountable for your practice, ensuring it meets legislative requirements and the practice standards defined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum one (1) year nursing experience obtained within the past 2 years working greater than 0.70 FTE.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an emergency or urgent care setting. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem-solving skills, and strong decision-making ability. Professional interpersonal and communication skills. Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. Understands Patient + Family Centered Care philosophy.
