About Our Opportunity
The License Compliance Analyst, within the Marine Division, is responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of a new compliance review program to assess fish buyers/processors licence holder's compliance with the Fisheries and Coastal Resources Act and related regulations. This role involves strong communication with multiple partners, including the fishing/seafood industry.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Build an enforcement program and develop the methodology to review records and reports required by fish buyers and processors licence holders.
  • Determine data requirements and design collection procedures to gather and analyze data.
  • Select licences for compliance review and request necessary records from licence holders.
  • Regularly travel in the Province to obtain documents and conduct compliance reviews.
  • Review third-party audits and reports to identify non-compliances.
  • Summarize and interpret information and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Provide information and guidance to licensees regarding their mandated requirements.
  • Conduct education sessions for licensees to promote compliance.
  • Work closely with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources to develop compliance strategies.

Qualifications And Experience
To be considered for this role, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as accounting or finance, plus 7 years of experience in compliance monitoring/auditing; or a master’s degree in a related field, plus 5 years of experience. Strong analytical skills and the ability to prepare clear, concise reports are essential.

Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered.

Working Conditions
Normal work is 35 hours/week, with occasional overtime required. Travel throughout the province is necessary.

Pay Grade: PR 15
Salary Range: $2,760.42 - $3,364.90 Bi-Weekly
