About the Role

Tataryn Law is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant with strong organizational and customer service skills to join our close-knit team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic firm while gaining valuable experience in a supportive environment.

As a Legal Assistant, you’ll provide essential administrative support to our legal team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient delivery of services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers including taking notes, conducting legal research, co-ordinating courier services.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing legal documents, correspondence, and filings.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel to schedule appointments, gather information, and ensure smooth progress of the files/matters.
  • Manage case files, including maintaining up-to-date records and initiating follow-up action to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain and monitor calendars, including but not limited to scheduling appointments, conferences, and depositions.
  • Assist in preparing for client meetings, hearings, and trials by organizing evidence, exhibits and other trial materials.
  • Create and distribute invoices, address client concerns, and monitor payments received.

What You Need to Succeed

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or university diploma in administration, legal secretary or any relevant field.
  • 2-5 years' experience in administration, preferably in a legal environment.
  • Knowledge of corporate law, litigation procedures and protocols is an asset.
  • Understanding of legal terminology is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Pro.
