Key Responsibilities
Assist with accounts payable and receivable
Distribution of cheques and payments
Reconciliation of credit card statements
Processing payments with Firm credit cards
Process invoices and expense reports
Working with the Firm’s accounting software (PC Law and Filevine)
Maintain filing systems and accurate financial records
Maintaining a list of upcoming deadlines requiring accounting duties
Drafting disbursement lists, draft statements of account, trust statements, and other account-related documents
Verifying the accuracy of various invoices and accounts payable
Generate financial reports
Ensuring invoices are approved and coded to the appropriate project
Assist in the Month-End and Year-End processes
Perform various ministry records requests and searches
Enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data
Respond to financial inquiries from staff
Check completeness and accuracy of repetitive accounting documents and make corrections
Perform other routine clerical duties, such as management of incoming mail, data entry into the firm's accounting programs, management of various office supplies, and assisting in other administrative functions as required
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in accounting, administration, or related field
2+ years of administrative and accounting experience
Knowledge and understanding of accounting processes and bookkeeping principles
Previous law firm or legal accounting software experience an asset, but not a requirement
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills internally and with clients
Ability to multi-task
Attention to detail and organization
Ability to work independently and to bring a positive teamwork attitude to the workplace
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability
Strong computer skills and software application proficiency in platforms such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
