Job description

As a member of the Accounts Receivable accounting team, the Accounts Receivable Accounting Clerk is responsible for all aspects of accounts receivable duties including but are not limited to; ensuring accuracy and efficiency of operations, processing and monitoring incoming payments, and securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts.

Job Duties :

  • Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables’ data
  • Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits
  • Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Verify discrepancies and resolve clients’ billing issues
  • Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
  • Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports as required
  • Other duties as required

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes :

  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (Netsuite Oracle)
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Education and Experience Required:

  • Successful completion of post-secondary education preferably in bookkeeping, accounting or related field or completion of two years (first level) of a recognized professional accounting program (ex. Chartered Accounting, Certified General Accounting) or equivalent working experience
  • Years of administrative office/customer service experience is required
  • Previous accounts receivable and/or accounting experience is preferred
