As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in Making a Difference by crafting engaging and impactful learning experiences for employees. Leveraging instructional design and adult learning principles, you will create educational programs that not only enhance the skills and knowledge of staff but also align with organizational standards, learning objectives, and values. Your focus will be on learner-centric approaches, utilizing agile instructional design and distribution methods—be it online, in the classroom, or a blend of both—to suit the content and learner profiles, all while adhering to organizational timelines and expectations. You'll be instrumental in championing a culture of learning and development, encouraging an environment where employees are empowered to grow both professionally and personally.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders, including the Branch Advisory Team and Project Team and across departments, to identify learning needs and objectives, and translate them into effective learning solutions.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design theories, and industry best practices to create high-quality learning content.
- Design and develop learning assessments, evaluations, and metrics to measure the effectiveness of learning programs.
- Deliver Scheduling and Customer Service education for administrative staff.
- Collaborate with the Branch Advisory team on CSM Collab Calls.
- Continuously evaluate and iterate on existing learning programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of learners and achieving desired outcomes.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of learning experience design.
- Administer and maintain the organization's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Manage user access, roles, and permissions within the LMS.
- Upload, organize, test, and maintain learning content, including courses, assessments, and resources.
- Monitor LMS performance and resolve technical issues.
- Generate and analyze LMS reports to track training progress, completion rates, and overall system usage.
- Provide technical training, support, and guidance to LMS users, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Customize, maintain and enhance the BHCS Operations Team's Sharepoint platform, focusing on Web Parts, UI Design, Forms, and Lists for optimal functionality and user experience.
- Champion a culture of learning and development, fostering an environment where Bayshore employees are encouraged to grow and pursue their professional and personal development goals utilizing curated Linkedin Learning content and created content.
Knowledge, Skill and Technical Abilities
- Proven expertise in branch operations including scheduling and coordination, ensuring seamless operations and efficient time management.
- Advanced proficiency in Procura, demonstrating a strong command of this essential healthcare management software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, showcasing versatility and adeptness in utilizing these tools for various educational and administrative tasks.
Other Responsibilities
- Must be willing to travel to branches and to the National Service Centre in Mississauga if required.
- Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.
- Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System.
- Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information in accordance with Bayshore policies.
- Complete other tasks as requested.
The BHCS Learning and Development Specialist reports to the BHCS Learning and Development Manager.
Education
- Post Secondary diploma or certificate in adult education or instructional design or working towards; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Working towards a CTDP or CTP designation is an asset.
- Strong understanding of instructional design theories and approaches, and hybrid learning strategies.
- Experience in process improvement methodology such as Lean is an asset.
Experience
- A minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in facilitation, course creation, and delivery.
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience in branch operations, including but not limited to client coordination is required.
- Understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.
- Experience working in Home Care, health care or senior services would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of Procura or other scheduling software is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint MS Project).
