Learning Coach Positions - The number of positions is dependent on Ministry funding that is pending.

K - 6 Learning Coach with Literacy and Numeracy Focus (3.0 FTE)
K - 12 Learning Coach with FSL Focus (1.0 FTE)
7 - 12 Learning Coach with Numeracy/STEM Focus (2.0 FTE)
7 - 12 Learning Coach with Literacy/UDL/Assessment Focus (1.0 FTE)
7 - 12 Pathways Coach (1.0 FTE)
7 - 12 Technology Enabled Learning Teacher with e-Learning Focus (1.0 FTE)
Location: Board wide

Start date: Required for the 2025-2026 School Year

Qualifications
  • Ontario College of Teachers Accreditation
  • Primary/Junior/Intermediate/Senior Qualifications (minimum of two)
  • Hold, or be working towards a 3 part Mathematics Primary and Junior Specialist AQ, or Math Honours Specialist (for Numeracy positions)
  • Hold, or be working towards a 3 part Reading or Writing Specialist AQ, or English Honours Specialist (for Literacy positions)
  • Hold, or be working towards a 3 part French Second Language Specialist AQ, or FSL Honours Specialist (for FSL position)
  • Earn the Apple Teacher Certification for iPad
  • Five years certified teaching experience an asset
  • Must be a current permanent teacher with District School Board Ontario North East with a satisfactory TPA within the last 5 years
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License required, as travel is expected
Responsibilities

The Coaches will:

  • Support educators in implementing the science of reading into their literacy block.
  • Support educators in implementing the revised language/English curriculum.
  • Support educators in implementing the board's Math Action Plan.
  • Co-plan and co-facilitate professional learning at the school and board level in support of the School Improvement Plans for Student Achievement and Well-being (SIPSAW) and Student Achievement Plan (SAP) goals.
  • Collaborate with school teams and classroom teachers in the development of professional learning cycles/ collaborative inquiries focusing on instructional strategies and assessments.
  • Develop digital and print resources to support educators.
  • Regular travel is expected within the region of the coach and some travel across regions will be required. Technology will be used to minimize travel where possible.
  • The Learning Coaches will be responsible for embedding technology using the TPACK framework, developing the 21st century skills and supporting educators with the use of synchronous and asynchronous platforms.
