ABOUT THE ROLE:

Overview:

The CME has an opportunity for a LEAN Trainer-Facilitator in Alberta (AB). This role would focus on member companies located in the geography of Red Deer and north of it. They would be joining a colleague in a parallel role focused on a separate geography to the south.

The successful candidate will have an intrinsic desire to be a positive difference-maker for everyone they lead and partner with.

The LEAN Trainer-Facilitator is a key individual contributor to the success of the CME member companies that they work with. High performance in this role will strengthen and improve the operational effectiveness of the member companies, making them more efficient, productive, and improving their financial strength and performance.
What You Will Do:

Provide training and support to CME members in northern Alberta, facilitate a LEAN Consortium, and facilitate industry peer councils. The focus will be on training delivery and development of processes to support standard in-person and online delivery. The incumbent will engage in business development of CME LEAN Training in northern Alberta through interaction with both member and non-member manufacturers.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Training & Facilitation:
  1. Own, prepare, and deliver LEAN 101.
  2. Own, prepare, and deliver the LEAN Level 1 (Yellowbelt Program).
  3. Own, prepare, and deliver the LEAN level 11 (Greenbelt Program).
  4. Facilitate the delivery of a LEAN consortium.
  5. Customize and tailor to individual manufacturers’ needs for private delivery of training upon request with support.
  6. Provide LEAN program development support to members.
  7. Work with the CME Facilitators and partners across the country to ensure methods and messages are consistent.

Other:
  1. Support the LEAN Champion in the promotion of LEAN among Canadian manufacturers.
  2. Provide information to prospective CME members on the entire program and services provided by CME.
  3. Promote CME events and programs.
  4. Support and attend CME events as required.
  5. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives in the office.
  6. Actively support business development through raising awareness of and filling CME Training Programs and Workshops.
  7. Compile and share success stories.

What You Will Bring To the Role:
  1. Entrepreneurial spirit and approach, built on a foundation of technical and subject matter expertise.
  2. Proven project management skills including the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines; strong attention to detail as well as the ability to work with colleagues, are essential.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders – internal and external - are essential. Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a team.
  4. LEAN Black Belt certification preferred.
  5. Adult Instructor/Education certification an asset.
  6. Lean Facilitator will have a Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience, preferably with a minimum of 1-3 years LEAN implementation experience.
  7. Sr. Lean Facilitator will have a min. of 5 years of manufacturing experience and 3-7 years leading operations. Preferably during times of operational change/ transformation.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  9. Holds a strong desire to uphold CME’s standard for continuous improvement, ethics and integrity within the CME team and with all outside vendors, clients and customers.
  10. Valid Driver’s License required.
  11. Valid Canadian passport required, with no national or international travel restrictions.

  1. CME member companies within the geography learn and effectively adopt LEAN principles in their manufacturing processes.
  2. LEAN training enrollment increases year over year.
  3. LEAN graduates continue in their learning and certification progression.
  4. CME membership within the geography goes up.
  5. CME member companies increase their utilization of member benefits over & above LEAN.
  6. CME members companies are more competitive, efficient and productive because of the work of the LEAN Facilitator.

Additional Details:

Reports To: VP of Member Services.

Direct Reports: None.

Travel:
  1. 50-60% Travel within the assigned geography.
  2. Periodic travel across western Canada may be required.
  3. Overnight travel often ranges from 1-3 days.

Location:
  1. Remote, as the CME does not maintain physical offices in the prairies.
  2. However, it is expected that the incumbent would reside within the designated geography.
