Position Title: Lead (Sole) Pastor, Saanich Community (Mennonite Brethren) Church
Desired Start Date: September, 2025 or asap
Type: Permanent, Full Time Salaried
Compensation: $75,000- $90,000 plus benefits, to be negotiated commensurate with experience and education. This salary range is in alignment with the BC Mennonite Brethren Conference salary formula.

About Our Next Pastor

Our long-term pastor is retiring in April, 2025. We are praying for God to provide us with a new Pastor for our church family. We would love to hear from you if you:

1. feel the Spirit’s calling to serve in pastoral ministry, and specifically to be a servant leader for our congregation;
2. love Jesus, and model a life that patterns itself in the ways of Jesus and Anabaptist principles including devotion, study of the scriptures, prayer; and, love and care for people;
3. have a passion for teaching and discipling the believers in our congregation so that they grow in their faith and can share it with those who do not yet know Christ;
4. have an ability to connect and communicate with people, including people from a wide variety of backgrounds, perspective and needs, helping to bring them to a new or deeper relationship with Christ;
5. have an awareness of the physical or spiritual needs of people, and a heart to show Jesus’ love to those in need;

The church has a congregational governance structure. The Pastor is accountable to the Church Council, which is responsible to work with the Pastor to design and manage an appropriate accountability framework. The position requires a collaborative leadership style. It also requires the capacity to identify and foster spiritual gifts within the congregation.

Qualifications

1. A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline.
2. Experience in pastoral ministry.
3. The capacity to work in the Mennonite Brethren denomination and to be credentialed by the B.C. MB Conference.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and congregants.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities will include:

1. Preaching and teaching
2. Discipleship
3. Pastoral care
4. Engagement with worship service planning and leading
5. Engagement with the Victoria community and with the denomination

The weighting of these responsibilities will be developed collaboratively with the leadership team based on the gifting of the individual who is offered the position. We want you to consider the gifts you bring to the position, and we will be open to the Spirit’s leading as to how those gifts might best be applied to ministry within our congregational setting.
