In support of upcoming projects, Bird Construction is reaching out to market to identify candidates interested in the Lead Scheduler position. Potential start date of March/April 2025.

What You Will Be Working On

  1. Implement company project controls procedures and standards across all assigned projects.
  2. Lead the development of detailed project schedules, ensuring the use of key milestones, critical path methods, and resource leveling that align with project objectives.
  3. Oversee baseline schedule creation and submission, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
  4. Monitor and report on project progress, identifying variances from baseline schedules and implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  5. Conduct impact analysis for potential delays and changes, and prepare construction claims and time-related dispute analysis.
  6. Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to integrate cost, schedule, and scope data into comprehensive project control reports.
  7. Ensure project schedules are updated based on scope, timeline, or resources changes, and that documentation is accurate and communicated effectively.
  8. Engage with clients, providing regular schedule updates and addressing scheduling-related issues or concerns.
  9. Conduct schedule risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies for potential delays.
  10. Maintain organized scheduling data in SharePoint and P6 database allowing team members to easily access project data.
  11. Ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements for all planning and scheduling activities.
  12. Mentor less experienced team members and drive continuous improvement of planning and scheduling practices.

What We Are Looking For

  1. Advanced knowledge of planning and scheduling disciplines and techniques, including the ability to interpret and analyze computerized schedule data and systems.
  2. Full understanding of industry-specific sequencing across multiple construction disciplines.
  3. Ability to conduct constructability reviews for various construction methods and techniques throughout a project’s lifecycle.
  4. Proficiency in claims prevention and analysis.
  5. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience.
  6. Strong proficiency in planning and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Synchro).
  7. Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, MS Office (MS Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Outlook) and data analysis tools.
  8. Ability to create project reporting using project data interfacing with PowerBI, MS Excel, Word.
  9. Experience with 4D schedule management and the integration with VDC tools (e.g. Synchro).
  10. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  11. 6-10+ years of experience in construction project planning and scheduling, with a focus on large and complex projects.
  12. Proven leadership in managing teams of planning professionals.
  13. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  14. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  15. In-depth understanding of project management principles including earned value management and risk management.
  16. Commercial awareness and understanding of various contracting models.

Preferred:

  1. Professional qualifications (e.g., PMP, PSP, or AACE certification).
  2. Experience on industrial construction projects.
  3. Client-facing experience, with the ability to manage expectations effectively.
