Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of all Process Engineering deliverables on mid- to large-size projects or proposals, with no supervision.
  • Process Engineering scope commonly includes all phases of design development, from conceptual engineering through front-end and detailed engineering, and including field support of startup and performance testing efforts.
  • Contribute to the development of project pursuits and cost estimates by rapidly developing the basis of design, simulation, material balances, PFDs, equipment type specification and initial sizing, P&ID development, process manhour estimating, and supporting the pursuit of client report generation.
  • Manage several different assignments simultaneously.
  • Lead the identification of changes to the scope of work during project execution.
  • Generate solution strategies that allow the use of others to progress complex issues, consistent with client and company goals.
  • Identify creative design solutions that optimize project capital or operating costs, equipment reliability, or project schedule. Possess critical analytical skills and is adept at utilizing good decision-making; high level of analytical skill.
  • Apply techniques/technologies to improve processes and business results.
  • Review and correct the work of engineers and designers as needed for the project.
  • Develop the technical abilities of less experienced engineers during the execution of projects.
  • Regularly perform reviews of vendor documents to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Provide resolution of technical issues associated with design, construction, equipment, and/or operations of refining and petrochemical processes.
  • Initiate meetings within own team, other disciplines, or internal customers to clearly convey work progress and future plans.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • 15 years minimum relevant experience in refining and/or petrochemical industry.
  • Professional Engineer (Peng, PE) preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of process simulators, such as HYSYS and ProMax.
  • Travel < 20% expected.
  • Ability to self-direct work without supervision.
  • Effective time and resource management.
  • Can provide guidance, leadership, and training to less experienced engineers.
  • Can coordinate work within discipline department.
  • The ability to clearly convey concepts verbally, during presentations, and in well-constructed, concise written documents.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Base Compensation: $124,341 - $191,115
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
