Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Hands-on Lead Engineer that will work on innovative and transformational initiatives at TD Securities -- the design and implementation of the next generation Trading Risk Warehouse platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of a scalable, resilient and high performing PnL (Profit and Loss) reporting platform that will be used by Risk Analysts, Front Office Traders, and Senior Executives. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies to solve problems of scale and speed. As a lead engineer, you will be working on leading engineering team to pinpoint the system bottleneck, providing tangible solutions quickly to resolve production issues as well as demonstrating a strong technical leadership to ensure the quality of deliverables in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the team to deliver high quality software and help business to run their business efficiently.
2. Manage multiple streams and follow proper code promotion process.
3. Manage lower development environments and ensure the stability of the environment.
4. Conduct Design Review and Code Review processes to ensure quality of software.
5. Reverse engineer legacy codes, find ways to optimize codes and address system bottleneck.
6. Analyze production issues and provide a solution to resolve the issue permanently.
7. Promote best practices and follow continuous integration and delivery.
8. Drive transformation by continuously looking for ways to automate existing processes, test, and optimize data quality.
9. Explore new capabilities and technologies to drive innovation.
10. Experience in managing an engineering team is a plus.

Qualifications & Skills

Desired Skillsets:

• Java /JEE

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of technical leadership experience in leading engineering teams delivering large scale and mission critical projects.
• 8+ years of Java /JEE experience.
• 5+ years of experience in the Spring tech stack and building microservices using Spring Boot.
• 3+ years of experience in Scala /Spark.
• Strong experience with Hadoop, Spark, Parquet or similar Big Data technologies.
• Strong experience in Linux environment.
• Experience in designing and integrating with REST APIs.
• Experience working with messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka).
• Experience with RDBMS, demonstrable fluency in SQL and any non-relational db such as Cassandra (preferred).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD toolset (Maven), Jenkins, working within an Agile environment.
• Understanding of best practices and design patterns.
• Experience developing and managing highly scalable and low latency systems.
• A passion for bringing best products to the customer, simplifying and automating work, for making things better, for being efficient and helping others.

Business Skills

• Good communication skills. Experience in collaborating efficiently within a global team.
• Demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced environment, working with PMs and our business sponsors.
• Nice to have - Hands-on experience with market risk and/or PnL (profit and loss) reporting.
