Lead Java Developer – Capital Markets

Summary of Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Working as a lead Java developer in Capital Markets operations.
• Develop and host web-enabled and database-driven applications in Java. Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver solutions.
• Design and develop quality solutions for systems issues consistent with project objectives.
• Develop, implement, and maintain solutions that maximize system availability. Periodic scope assistance.
• A vacancy exists for a developer to join the team in the delivery and development of this project and to eventually contribute to future enhancement, support, and maintenance post-delivery.
• As part of this team, prime responsibility will be to:

1. Work with other team members to cooperatively design, develop, and deploy quality solutions in order to satisfy project objectives and client requirements. Write, test, and debug code. Participate in code reviews.
2. Comply with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. Take part in the construction of the requirements, design, testing, and deployment documents.
3. Ensure consistency in coding standards.
4. Ensure required documentation is housed in the project repository and that knowledge transfer has occurred to full-time staff upon completion of the contract term.
5. Participate in after-hours on-call support rotation as required.

Skills:

• Development experience in distributed Windows or Java environment.
• Experience with SQL, Java, J2EE, HTML, etc.

Must Have:

• Capital Markets experience (trading experience, middle/front office experience). Demonstrable and in-depth experience in fixed income/capital markets and middle office operations and post-trade workflows.

• High social intelligence and fluid communication skills required for brokering complex technical solutions between multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrable experience of independently leading and delivering meaningful projects described in part as:

1. Lead developer in a team of 4-6 developers.
2. Development and delivery periods spanning over a year.
3. High complexity.
4. System migrations/replacements (must explain why).
5. Onboarding of new business.
6. Multiple stakeholders / high profile / major importance.

Education:

• Computer Science or equivalent.
