Reporting to the Director, Clinical Integration, the Lead is responsible for supporting the planning, development and implementation of initiatives and efforts within the Clinical Programs and Innovation portfolio that support clinical quality improvement and clinical transformation.

This position will work closely with inter-departmental teams and clinical leaders within the Central Region to drive clinical service changes and broader health system improvements.

Here is what you will be doing:

Health system planning and quality improvement

  • Works closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to identify opportunities to align clinical, quality improvement and operational priorities across different health care sectors and clinical program areas
  • Utilizes data and evidence to help identify areas for clinical quality improvement
  • Supports the identification and implementation of clinical standards of care and best practices
  • Facilitates engagement with Clinical Leads to advance work plans that will achieve measurable progress in priority indicators and align with regional and provincial priorities

Develop and lead stakeholder relationships

  • Develop and maintain internal OH relationships and Central Region team relationships to advance regional clinical initiatives
  • Provides advice and support, as required, to Central Region planning staff, health service providers, and other partners on initiatives and opportunities that will advance strategic health system goals
  • Leads discussions in department and stakeholder meetings, working groups, committees, advisory groups, council and/or other relevant meetings which may have an impact on the project/corporate initiatives
  • Acts as the key representative at various clinical program committees, other project related initiatives, as required to advance team goals
  • Initiates and develops effective working relationships with external stakeholders to keep up to date on current/emerging developments, trends, quality improvement initiatives related to clinical programs
  • Works closely and collaborates with internal strategy, OHT planning and performance management teams to ensure alignment across the organization, and to integrate and align efforts in support of shared goals

Project management and objectives delivery

  • Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of initiatives, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects
  • Develops, manages and executes on work plans, including effectively tracking milestones, project risks, and project status
  • Implements a data driven approach to drive clinical improvement opportunities
  • Works collaboratively with project support resources from both within and outside of the organization to align planning processes
  • Utilizes strong knowledge of project implementation characteristics to lead large scale projects and manage communications with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage all aspects of the project life-cycle ensuring delivery on-time

Issues and stakeholder management

  • Conduct proactive issues management by anticipating and mitigating issues, facilitating discussions among partners/stakeholders
  • Use excellent problem recognition and problem solving abilities to handle complex problems and inform management of potential issues and associated solutions

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education & Experience

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Health Care, Business Administration or related field; a Master’s degree is an asset (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5+ years experience in a health care environment required – business development, health system planning, stakeholder engagement/facilitation, client services or similar role
  • 5+ year of experience leading medium to large projects within healthcare environment required
  • Excellent computer skills required (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Proven ability to build, enhance and maintain strategic relationships with clinicians, local and provincial governments, health service providers and other key stakeholders to work in a variety of team situations

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong understanding of health care system and continuum of care including clinical processes with ability to use clinical data for improvement required;
  • Capacity to think strategically and maintain a broad systems view, with the ability to translate broad goals into detailed strategic and operational plans required;
  • Strong ability to gather, critically analyze and synthesize data and information from multiple sources to inform health planning and to guide evidence based decision making required;
  • Ability to effectively analyze complex problems, interpret operational/clinical needs and develop integrated and creative solutions required;
  • Ability to utilize a high level of initiative and self-direction, required;
  • Strong consulting, negotiating, influencing and facilitation skills required;
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team player with a variety of staff/stakeholders required;
  • Exceptional project management skills and experience leading multiple cross-functional projects concurrently, with a proven ability to move complex projects from start to finish through planning, development, implementation required;
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with a variety of stakeholders and senior leaders across the health continuum required;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and pressure required.
