About this team

The Lead Architect role is within the Digital Identity Engineering team (Authentication, Profile, and Security), a part of the Global Digital Engineering Organization. We are a fast-moving team tasked with the responsibility to give our guests the ability to securely identify themselves, and present to them curated experiences relevant to their preferences and interests. We have both front-end and back-end teams. Authentication, Profile Management, Access Management, and the Experiences built on these and derived secondary services are core business functions we already support today.

As our team’s Lead Architect, you will function as the architectural leader for the platforms and experiences our team delivers. You are also part of a global team supported by our business and architecture partners across the total enterprise, setting an example for our entire engineering organization to help us collaboratively develop and deliver industry leading technology solutions that drive lululemon’s business goals.

A day in the life

As a Lead Architect you are responsible for leading solution design impacting multiple teams' backlogs. Specifically, you are accountable for the architecture of the Digital Identity space, including authentication services, profile management, and our guest-facing curated experiences built to more deeply engage and connect with those guests who have chosen to become members. This includes guest data security, fraud detection and mitigation, feature development, and new business program initiatives catering to our exclusive members.

You will work with other architects and functional leaders to ensure that all designs are clear and complete for successful execution. From solving large complex design problems to leading engineers and architects through delivery & implementation, you will act as a key technical leader, driving alignment and clarity across multiple stakeholder groups. You will spend a good amount of time working closely with our Product and Business partners, contributing from the beginnings of the ideation process, to ensure that the Identity team and Technology in general is fully represented in the evolution of feature and program creation. You will also partner with Senior Leadership and Principal Architects to lead a Community of Practice aimed at increasing Architect and Engineer training and development for your technology stack. Lead Architects work to not only elevate our technology community through best practices, but also to guide our business partners in realizing their product vision.

  • Provide architecture delivery support across multiple teams within your delivery unit and actively drive solution alignment between Architects, Sr Architects, Sr. Software Engineers, Lead Engineers, Program & Project Managers, and Product, Business & Engineering leadership
  • Act as solution design lead for large, complex or mission critical projects and initiatives that requires cross-team collaboration spanning an entire Director+ level organization
  • Take ownership of designs that span multiple people's work, breaking work into smaller tasks for Architects, Sr. Architects and may also delegate to Software Engineers and Sr. Software Engineer
  • Demonstrate an ability to turn business needs into functional requirements, while also explaining technical details in ways the business can understand. Participate in defining, scoping, and estimating resulting stories
  • An accomplished individual contributor, as a Lead Architect you now focus on working through others to achieve delivery goals and drive successful business outcomes.
  • Represent architectural perspectives and needs during cross-functional roadmap development.
  • Proactively seek and drive alignment with multiple Product Managers or primary Business stakeholders; Ensure that product/business solutions align to organizational technology strategy.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Engineering, Security and Operations throughout product development life cycle

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology related discipline
  • 7+ Years demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in designing and developing complex, high quality enterprise solutions on cloud-based architectures or a combination of cloud and on-prem
  • 4+ Years of experience delivering or architecting retail commerce technologies such as point-of-sale, ecommerce, payment technologies, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead through others
  • Able to design for specific security threat models; able to describe basic and advanced security and compliance aspects of cloud platform primitives.
  • Be able to describe the key services of a given cloud platform and be able to select appropriately for given use cases, e.g. compute, storage, analytics, etc.
  • Experience designing solutions for retail or eCommerce businesses is a big plus

Compensation and Benefits Package

lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $148,000-194,300 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
