Barteaux Labour & Employment Lawyers Inc. is a management-side labour and employment law firm representing employers throughout Atlantic Canada. We are the Atlantic Canada member of the Employment Law Alliance – the world’s largest network of labour and employment lawyers. We are growing our labour and employment team and are seeking a Junior and/or Senior Lawyer to join our practice. Ownership will be considered for a Lawyer applying with experience in labour and employment law and meeting other ownership criteria.

Summary of Responsibilities:
• Provide advice and representation to a wide variety of private and public clients;
• Identify and conduct, or direct Associates, in comprehensive legal research;
• Engage in careful analysis of evidence and the law;
• Generate thoughtful and well-reasoned legal arguments;
• Work with our other lawyers to provide strategic advice on employment and
labour issues to our clients; and
• Prepare and present compelling oral arguments before courts and
administrative tribunals.

Skills and Qualifications:
• 1 – 5 or more years’ experience practising law;
• Knowledge of legislation covering all areas of labour and employment and
related laws (knowledge particular to Atlantic Canada would be an asset);
• A highly-motivated forensic self-starter who can work well both autonomously
and in a team environment;
• Attention to detail and proven organizational skill;
• Effective communicator; and
• A member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (out-of-Province candidates will
need to become a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society).
