Green Works Contracting is a multi-service landscaping and design company in the nation’s capital focused on providing quality landscaping and friendly, hands-on service and Ottawa’s largest sod installers. We are currently seeking Landscape/Sod Foremans to join our amazing team!

The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscape and a desire to grow within the industry. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and has the ability to work independently and manage/motivate a crew.

!!Work Starts Spring 2025!!! (Winter positions available till the spring season).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive F550 truck and a 20' trailer.
• Gather and prep all materials, tools and equipment for the day's project.
• Follow daily instruction from the department manager and remain a team player from start to finish.
• Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely manner.
• Manage and motivate crew members and provide training, guidance and direction.
• Install and maintain landscape installations, including but not limited to excavation, base prep, grading, pruning, planting, and sod installation, (other landscape duties as required).
• Communicate with on-site clients.
• Operate excavators, skid steer and loaders.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to commute to office and shop near Stevenage & Hawthorne and work from 6:30AM to 6:30PM.
• Have at least +2 years of experience working in residential/commercial landscapes.
• Previous experience as a landscape supervisor or similar role is a must.
• G Licence and clean driver's abstract and trailer experience.
• Ability to operate excavators, skid steer and loaders.
• Chain saw certified, preferred.
• Have sound knowledge of landscape construction practices, such as grading, drainage, soil work, soil structure, planting large trees, and installing sod.
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance including, trees, shrubs, plants, lawns and hardscapes.
• Knowledge of tools used in landscape projects (trimmers, chainsaws, edgers, cultivator, string trimmers, leaf blower, power broom, etc.) and how to use them effectively.
• Able to read, layout materials and work from landscape design plans.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
• Ability to lift heavy objects such as heavy plants, heavy equipment, etc. (+60lb).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week

Flexible language requirement:

• French not required

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 12 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Landscape maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
• Landscape installation: 1 year (preferred)
• Sod installation: 1 year (preferred)
• Landscape foreman: 1 year (preferred)
• F550 operation: 1 year (preferred)
• 20' trailer: 1 year (preferred)
• Skid steer: 1 year (preferred)
• Excavator operation: 1 year (preferred)
• Plant/weed identification: 1 year (preferred)
• Garden maintenance and installation: 1 year (preferred)
