Landscape Architectural Technologist / Landscape Construction Inspector

Arcadis is seeking a talented and experienced Landscape Architectural Technologist/Landscape Construction Inspector to join our Calgary Landscape Architecture + Urban Design Studio, working on diverse projects throughout Alberta as well as providing support to our other offices in the west region.

Our Calgary office includes one of the longest established Landscape Architectural practices in Western Canada and since joining Arcadis from IBI Group, we have continued to evolve into a thriving, diverse, stable and energetic Landscape Architecture + Urban Design studio. As part of this team, you will help and support the design of high quality and sustainable public and private spaces. You will be working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, involved in all phases of projects from schematic design through to contract administration. Your role will be critical in ensuring that designs are brought to life with creative technical solutions and through site inspections and reviews.

Role Accountabilities:

1. Work with Landscape Architects to prepare conceptual designs and assist throughout design development and construction documentation
2. Collaborate with other disciplines including planning, architectural and engineering technologists
3. Work cooperatively as part of a team and collaboratively with peers and clients, internally and externally.
4. Ensure project deliverables comply with local standards and contract requirements
5. Prepare construction detail drawings using CAD and LandFX
6. Complete quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates
7. Monitor and inspect construction works, and complete contract administration tasks
8. Assist with preparation of specifications and technical reports
9. Assist with generating presentation drawings using Adobe Suite and Sketch Up
10. Meet project deadlines
11. Establish and maintain good working relationships with contractors
12. On-site field reviews and landscape construction inspections (including associated paperwork)
13. Support the project manager and landscape architect

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology
2. 5-10 years of experience as a Landscape Architectural Technologist
3. Construction knowledge and field experience
4. Experience with contract administration (construction monitoring and inspections, etc.)
5. Knowledge of local plant materials and construction methodologies
6. Experience in preparation of contract documents/working drawings
7. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Land FX, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and other graphics software
8. Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills;
9. Organized with good interpersonal skills
10. Ability to work in a team and collaborative environment
11. Valid drivers license & vehicle
