Position Overview:

The Land Surveyor - Project Manager provides professional supervision and oversight of various surveying projects including land development and strata/air space work, topographic and rights-of-way surveys, surveys for infrastructure and capital works projects, construction and monitoring surveys, surveys on First Nation lands and many other diverse types of surveys. It is the role and responsibility of the Land Surveyor – Project Manager to be accountable for accurate and timely deliverables to our clients and assume the legal responsibility for all work.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, initiate, execute, supervise and deliver a diverse range of survey projects.
  2. Lead survey team on projects, communicate scope and scheduling information to team members.
  3. Provide guidance, training and mentoring to team members.
  4. Prepare proposals and contracts.
  5. Work with other Survey Project Managers to co-ordinate, schedule and review the activities of field and office staff.
  6. Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches to document work performed.
  7. Manage project billings, expenses, and receivables.
  8. Manage project issues.
  9. Liaise with both internal and external Project Managers and clients.
  10. Develop strong client relations, participate in business development activities including identifying & securing new clients, increase work with existing clients and representing the organization at industry events.
  11. Manage client expectations, and ensure project deliverables, schedules, objectives, and budgets are met.
  12. Provide information as required by senior management;
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years as a British Columbia Land Surveyor in good standing with the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors.
  2. Must have significant legal survey experience including airspace and strata surveys. Must have engineering survey experience including high precision control surveys (conventional/GNSS) and deformation monitoring.
  3. Must be capable of managing a large number of survey projects of varying size simultaneously in an organized way to meet project commitments and client expectations.
  4. CLS commission is an asset.
  5. Diploma or Degree in Geomatics is an asset.
  6. Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  7. Valid BC driver’s license;

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
