Our team at the First Nation Lands Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) is cutting edge, dedicated and experienced in assisting First Nations with developing workable solutions to the everyday challenges of community led lands and resources governance. We are currently searching for motivated and qualified candidates to fill a Land Code Governance Advisor position.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Land Code Governance Advisor provides day to day support to signatory First Nations who are either developing or operating under a land code or who are interested in becoming a signatory to the Framework Agreement.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for the position identified above, please demonstrate how you meet the following:
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field (a combination of education and related experience or experience working with First Nations may be considered).
- Experience working with First Nations.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders on common files.
Our Land Code Governance Advisors are:
- Passionate about governance, lands, natural resources and environmental management.
- Comfortable public speaking, community engagement and sharing information to various audiences.
- Comfortable collaborating and contributing to a team project.
- Passionate about the traditional knowledge and connection that is deeply rooted in the relationship between First Nations and their land.
- Committed to nation building in the spirit of decolonization and reconciliation.
In addition to this, you must be comfortable:
- Delivering presentations to First Nations’ membership, including Chief and Council on land governance under the Framework Agreement.
- Working independently from a home office environment.
- Conducting research and analyzing information to develop recommendations to First Nations’ leadership.
- Leading files that include collaborating with various levels of government, First Nations, and other subject matter experts.
- Working independently, able to adapt to changing priorities and comfortable finding solutions to non-standard problems.
ASSETS
If you meet any of the following, please explain how you meet these asset qualifications:
- Experience supporting First Nation self-government efforts particularly in the area of reserve lands and natural resources.
OTHER
- Must be willing to travel.
- Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle.
- Candidate must work from a home office environment and be centrally located to facilitate travel.
PREFERENCE
Due to the amount of work with First Nation communities, preference may be given to candidates with Indigenous ancestry.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Satisfactory criminal records check and education verification.
