Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a Labour Relations strategy aligned with the organization’s values and vision.
- Ensure compliance with internal HR policies, applicable legislation, and the Alberta Health Services Master Services Agreement.
- Monitor labour relations trends and stay current on employment and labour legislation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on best practices related to labour relations, performance management, and employee discipline.
- Assist leaders with collective agreement interpretation, policy application, and resolution of HR issues, including investigations and performance management.
- Design and deliver educational sessions on labour relations, employer practices, policies, and protocols for leadership and front-line staff.
- Support collective bargaining preparation, participate in Labour Management meetings, and contribute to organization-wide initiatives and projects.
Education:
- University Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations or related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPHR designation preferred.
Qualifications:
- Clean criminal background check (Vulnerable sector)
- Valid driver's license
Experience:
- A minimum of three (3) years labour relations experience in a unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation that affects an organization from an employment perspective (Employment Standards, Human Rights, etc.).
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with collective agreement interpretation and best practices.
- Experience with grievance procedure discussions/resolutions.
Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work, including documentation and reporting.
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a proven track record of making informed, effective decisions.
- Expertise in conflict resolution and mediation, with the ability to facilitate discussions and drive positive outcomes.
- Skilled in conducting sensitive investigations, including fact-finding and resolution of HR-related issues.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse teams, including leadership, employees, and union representatives.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence when handling confidential and sensitive matters.
Base Salary: $80,000 per year
