The Labor Relations Advisor ensures consistent application of the company's labor relations policies and practices and supports the operational team in disciplinary and union-management matters.

Labor Relations Advisor Responsibilities

  1. Advise employees, management and operations on a wide range of labor and employee relations issues, including performance management, discipline, investigations, legal and interpersonal issues.
  2. Coordinate grievance management at all stages, to minimize organizational and financial costs and develop good labor-management relations. 
  3. Analyze general labor relations issues and trends, such as systemic problems, policy and process concerns, and recommend optimization strategies.
  4. Participate in various local labor-management meetings, including professional relations committees.

Labor Relations Advisor Qualifications

  1. At least 1 to 3 years experience in human resources, preferably in a unionized environment.
  2. Post-secondary education in human resources or labour relations, or equivalent work experience.
  3. Experience working in a federal jurisdiction is ideal.
  4. Work experience and/or basic knowledge of collective agreement management.
  5. Experience in disciplinary investigations and the implementation of corrective measures (e.g. disciplinary actions).
  6. Employment Type: Permanent
