LAB RELIEF OPERATOR
Related Lab testing experience an asset. Familiar with plant operations, computerized systems, processes and procedures. Related experience in preparing reports and maintaining records. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to deal with tact, diplomacy and courtesy. In addition, the candidate must have previous experience with Health and Safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment, ideally a chemical processing facility.
Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Chemistry (or related Chemical Technology program) with relevant experience preferred. Knowledge of Lab processes, procedures and related systems in a Lab environment. Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations. Knowledge of computer software applications, instrumentation and ability to operate computer systems and software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point, Outlook, and to conduct internet research. SAP knowledge/experience would be an asset. Problem solving/analytical skills, as well as strong organizational and coordination skills. Ability to work independently and within a team is required.
Performs resin testing as required.
Provides direction with input from distribution and production personnel as to the destination of both in-spec and non-prime resin.
Provides relief to the Certification Operators.

General Responsibilities:
To assist and cover 7-day testing of in-process and finished product PVC resin. To assist with other Quality control testing as required. Assist with ensuring, overseeing and maintaining smooth operation of the Lab. To assist Lab operations by providing relief coverage for all positions and their related duties. Lab Relief may include coverage for the Certification Operators and could include outside department responsibilities (i.e. Traffic Coordinator relief) as requested by the department manager. Conduct daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies. Work safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements. Follows the procedures for the ISO 9001 Program to meet OCC’s quality policies of conducting business that exceed the expectations and needs of our customers in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Must be able to work day/night rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary. Work hours will vary from week to week depending upon operational requirements. However, the default hourly work schedule would be Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week.
